FAQs
What is the College Readiness Program?
The College Readiness Program (CRP) is an initiative by Ashoka University’s Office of Learning Support that prepares high school students with disabilities, their parents, and educators for a smooth transition into higher education.
Over the past five years, CRP has conducted multiple editions of workshops and webinars, reaching nearly a thousand participants nationwide, including students, parents, and educators. Through these editions, the program has provided step-by-step guidance on academic skills, self-advocacy, disability rights, and assistive technology. In 2024, CRP expanded into a year-long College Readiness Cohort 2024 course, offering mentoring, teacher-led sessions, career discussions, and hands-on assistive technology integration. By creating a vibrant community of students, families, and experts, CRP has not only raised awareness but also built lasting support networks, empowering young learners to approach college with confidence and independence.
How does this CRP website work?
This website is designed to guide you step by step through the journey of becoming college ready. You can explore resources on different disabilities, learn about reasonable accommodations and assistive technologies, and build key study and life skills for higher education. The platform also allows you to ask your queries, whether you are a student or parent, and get tailored responses from field experts.
Who can participate in the program?
The College Readiness Program is intended for high school students with disabilities preparing for higher education, as well as recent high school graduates who are about to begin their college journey. Parents and families are encouraged to participate to better understand how to support their child’s journey. Educators, counselors, and field experts are also welcome to join as mentors and contributors on this platform by writing to us at crp_ols@ashoka.edu.in. Together, this diverse group forms a supportive community that shares knowledge, experiences, and resources to ensure that every student feels confident about higher education.
What kind of topics are covered?
The website covers topics including executive functioning skills such as time management, study strategies, and organization; developing life skills like self-advocacy, decision-making, and stress management; and understanding disability rights and the available reasonable accommodations. This website in its next phase will also introduce resources for parents to help them with guidance on how to best support students in their journey.
How is the program delivered?
This program is delivered through this website in the following three ways:
- By sharing resources for students and parents to use
- By providing tailored responses to the queries related to college readiness.
- By creating a space for students to learn through interactive sessions and webinars.
