How Can Parents be More Involved with Children or Students with Disabilities?
Parents play a vital role in helping their children prepare for college, especially when the student has a disability. Being involved doesn’t mean doing everything for them – it means encouraging independence while offering guidance and support. You can help by talking openly about their strengths and challenges, supporting them in using assistive tools, and helping them practice study or life skills at home. Most importantly, listening to their concerns and celebrating their small wins will build their confidence for the big transition ahead.
